Traffic Spike Investigation
Diagnose sudden traffic jumps by source, geo, and quality so you know whether to celebrate or dig deeper.
GA4, Google Ads, and Search Console results for the most recent day 15/05/2026. I used sessions, clicks, impressions, and spend. That gives a fast way to isolate the cause of the spike.
| Source | What changed | Cause |
|---|---|---|
| Google Ads | Spend up and clicks up | Promo or new bidding push |
| Search Console | Impressions up | Search demand shift |
| GA4 | Sessions up and CVR steady | Quality held up |
| Meta Ads | Flat | Not the driver |
Google Ads and Search Console both moved, which points to a real demand shift rather than a tracking fluke. That is the first clue that the spike is meaningful.
It is good if the spike comes with stronger GA4 sessions and conversion rate, but bad if it is only spend without quality. That business read matters more than the raw traffic jump.
Check whether the spike came from a branded push, a promo campaign, or a search trend. Once you know that, you can decide whether to keep scaling it or let it settle.
